FAQ

  • Where can I find charts for your music?

You can download most of my most requested charts in the Charts & Tracks section of my website. Other songs can be foud on Songselect. If you can’t find a particular song you’re looking for, please contact me.

  • What is the story behind the song "I'm In His Hands"?

I’m In His Hands is a song that was originally written by Commissioner Stanley Ditmer (1924-2003), who was an officer in The Salvation Army. It was based on his personal experience of God’s presence during times of trouble and concern.

Near the end of Stan’s life, when he was in the hospital, a call for prayer went out, as well as a phone call to Phil from lifelong friend Bernie Dake. Bernie asked if Phil would consider a new arrangement of the song. That night, Phil wrote a new melody, which was recorded and shared with Stan while he was in hospital. Stan gave his blessing to the new arrangement, and it continues its legacy of being a help and a blessing to people of faith all over the world going through difficult times.

  • What is your relationship to The Salvation Army?

The Salvation Army is my church…yes, you read that right! Many people think of the Army as only a thrift store, a shelter, or the people that ring those bells at kettles during Christmas. Those are vital parts of what we do, but it is our faith in Jesus that drives us to do those things as part of His Church.

I am a soldier in The Salvation Army (similar to an active member of a local congregation). I have no official connection and I do not speak on its behalf in any official capacity. You can find more information here.

  • How can I pray for you?

One of my favorite people has said, “Prayer doesn’t make a difference—prayer IS the difference.” I firmly believe that, and rely heavily on the prayer support of those around me. Some ongoing prayer requests are: for the continued anointing of the Holy Spirit over my ministry, for wisdom to know which opportunities to accept, and for protection of my family when I travel.
